Texas Rollergirls on the Road

The Hotrod Honeys brought mayhem to Maryland on June 19 when they trampled the Charm City Roller Girls' Female Trouble 223-26. With another notch added to their undefeated belts, the Honeys look toward home and a chance to win their third consecutive league title on July 25.

The Hell Marys had it out in Houston with nemesis the Psych Ward Sirens on June 19. It was their third match-up in as many years and the Sirens snuck out a win 85-80.

The Texas Rollergirls' nationally ranked all-star team, the Texecutioners, stormed the Pacific Northwest to rain pain on two tough teams in early June.

In a rematch of the 2009 WFTDA National Championship final, the Texies took on current champs, the Oly Rollers, in Olympia on June 5. It was a hard fought battle with bumps and bruises on both sides, but Oly emerged victorious 123-75. The Oly Rollers have been on a blistering winning streak for the past two seasons, and with 18 straight victories they're now tied with New York's Gotham Girls for the WFTDA record for most consecutive wins.

In the second game of the weekend, Texas skirmished in Seattle with longtime rivals the Rat City Rollergirls. This fiery feud got off to a fast start with both teams trading early blows until a 10 point jam by Blood Mary gave the Texecutioners a solid lead. The Texies made the most of this windfall, working up to a 40-15 advantage, but Rat City refused to be bested in their own backyard. In a surge of momentum, Seattle struck a series of powerjams that gave them a 71-56 lead at halftime. Rat City held onto the lead throughout the second half with Texas scratching at their skates. In the nail-biting final minutes of the game, the score stood at 128-102 in favor of Seattle. The Texies quickly rallied with 8 unanswered points and called a time out with 44 seconds remaining. In the final heart-stopping jam of the night, Seattle's Juliet Bravo was sent to the penalty box, giving Texie rookie phenom, Luce Bandit, the advantage and a chance to tie the score. Despite her unearthly agility and lightening fast feet, Luce was only able to snag 10 points, bringing final score to 128-120 Rat City.
