RADIOACTIVE #91.7 BLOCKER, Rock-n-Roll DJ She was a poor girl from a small Texas town who never wished for dolls to play with or a pony to ride. All she ever wanted was a radio. The idea of turning those little knobs and having music all to herself was delicious! The first twelve years of her life, she felt like a puzzle missing a piece until the day she found that old radio in a pile of curbside crap. All that was missing were three knobs: power, volume, and tuning. She quickly learned just how to use a pair of pliers to turn the little metal prongs where the knobs were supposed to be. My oh my...how she loved being the master of the music that poured out of that radio into her ears, into her heart. It was one year (almost to the day) that she acquired her second needful thing. Yes, it's true, it was a pair of rollerskates! Big, white, goofy skates with baby blue pompoms she purchased for only $2 at a garage sale. That's right, only a dollar a skate, a quarter a wheel, a penny per bearing. But knowing that she'd changed her destiny was priceless! Oh, how she loved to terrorize her family and the family cat by skating laps around the house. The sound of the rolling of the wheel on the hard wood floor, the sound of the wheel on the kitchen's linoleum, the sound of the music blasting through the house as she made her transition from poor little girl to dominant woman. Fast forward to a Texas Rollergirls tryout 2006. You can be sure that the Hotrods got word there was a girl trying out who'd give her left arm to rock n' roll (she couldn't give a leg because you need 2 for bouting-duh!) and quickly adopted her as their own. And the rest as they say, folks...is history. You can see her terrorizing her new family at Playland Skate Center, or hear her on KOOP radio 91.7 on Thursday nights at 6PM, rockin' it like she did when she was a kid. Tune in, or else... |
